1956 BSA Gold Star DB34 500 Competition Scrambler This 1956 BSA DB34 500 Gold Star Scrambler was purchased by the seller in January, 2007 from a San Mateo, CA-based collector. The seller has retained the motorcycle in his collection since that time on a display-only basis. It was restored in the 1990??s by an unknown restorer. Powered by a 500cc OHV single mated to a 4-speed transmission, the motorcycle has reportedly been rebuilt to stock specifications, including new paint, refreshed or new chrome, and rebuilt mechanical systems. This BSA Gold Star is offered on a Bill of Sale basis. Produced for 25 years in both 350cc and 500cc variants, the Gold Star is an iconic British motorcycle of the '50s, and was used primarily for racing and dominated European TT races. It also won numerous road race, flat track, and off road competitions in the US. This example has been rebuilt in its original Scrambler trim and, apart from the new and unique tank finish, is as it would have appeared at a dealer of the time. This motorcycle features a gas tank finished in basecoat/clear coat light blue. The paint, chrome, and upholstery were renewed as part of the restoration. The chrome Dunlop rims wear a combination of a 350x19 Nitto universal tread on the front and a 4.00x19 Avon universal tread on the rear. Both tires are at best lightly used, but the Nitto is showing signs of cracking. The wheels were rebuilt with stainless spokes and duplicate the proper cross patterns front and rear. This unit also includes many key details such as an as-new tool box, inflator pump, correct controls and levers, and a correct front number plate. Having been stored in a coastal climate previously, there is some very light spotting on the lower sides of the fenders and on some exposed surfaces. All rubber is correct and in place. The tank badges display slight cracking and are believed to be the original items. The serial numbers for this Gold Star are CB 32.4239 (frame) and DB34 GS752 (engine). Presently located in Calgary, Canada, the seller may be able to assist with the identification of a shipper for transport and import of the machine to the United States or elsewhere.
