Up for bid is my 1984 Harley Davidson FXE Superglide. This is the last year of the Shovelhead engine.
The bike runs and rides very well. It has the numbers matching 1340 cc, 80 c.i. engine which is, to my knowledge all stock with the following exceptions:
S&S Super carb Aftermarket electronic ign
The transmission is the stock speed, chain drive unit that goes through all of the gears like it should. The clutch is bit "grabby" when taking off from dead stop. It works fine and does not slip.
The brakes work like they should with bit of pulsation from the rear one.
All lights work as they should
The mileage showing is 18,953 and believe that to be true and accurate. Both the speedometer and tachometer work as they should.
The bike sports electric and kick start. Both work as they should, however the solenoid will kick out on occasion.
The exhaust has baffles and is not that loud.
Both front and rear tires are in good shape.
The bike would pass Maine State Safety inspection with out any issues.
I bought the bike two years ago and rode it fair bit last summer. This summer the bike has been rode less than 50 miles and for the most part has sat in the garage, thus time to sell. The bike is 33 years old so keep that in mind when bidding. The chrome is not perfect, nor is the paint. It shows well but it is not 100 point show piece. It is true old Shovel that waits ready for you to light the fire and ride off into the sunset. Obviously good cleaning/polishing/detailing would do it wonders. All did for these photos was take the cover off and drive it outside
The bike has never let me down and would not hesitate to ride it anywhere right now
Maine is non title state on Vehicles this old. It will be sold on clean, current Maine registration and bill of sale. This will get you title in whatever state you live in.
Please be serious when you bid. require $500 non refundable deposit with in 48 hours of the auctions close with the remainder due in days. All forms of payment will have to clear prior to the bike leaving. can bring the bike to business to aid in shipping if that is the option you choose. With that said am in no way in charge of shipping. That is on you. In the past have used J.C. Motors- now Motorcycle Shippers with good results.
Any questions please ask and will do my best to answer them
