I bought this bike as a base for a customization project and have never gotten around to it. I like these, I bought one for my son new in 2008 (not this bike) and it was a surprisingly good performer, we took a 2,500 mile road trip through the West and he rode the GS500, ran with my BMW no problem. In this era of 15-16-1,800cc machines, 500cc seems small, but they have a place. They are easy to throw a leg over and run to the grocery, or the office, or whatever - far easier than hefting a big bike for short hauls. I did not ride this bike much, it ran well but I haven't started it for 5 years. It will need recommissioning, i.e. carbs cleaned, new battery, tires, new brake fluid, etc. It appears that this bike was dropped on its' right side, since there are no horizontal scratches, I believe it was a garage/parking lot boo boo. That does mean the fairing is cracked on that side as you can see in the photos. This is a no-reserve auction, it will be a great bike for not a lot of money. I can store this bike until the end of august, it is located in Burlington, Iowa and will happily assist you or a shipper in getting it on its way to you.
