For sale is my very rare Norton Commando 750SS (which stands for "Street Scrambler").
It has matching numbers, and was subject to a complete rebuild in 2010, since which it has covered very few miles.
I bought it from its only owner, who lives in Malibu, California, and have repatriated it with a full folder of receipts for the rebuild. I have applied for the V5, but it is otherwise ready to go for the summer.
Norton only built 400 of these over four months in 1970-71, making it one of the rarest of all Nortons. I have not seen one on sale in the UK for a few years; the last one I saw on sale was at Bonhams, which achieved $21,000 at the auction sale.
To sit on it is like sitting on a scrambler, with the upswept pipes and wide handlebars, but to ride it is to experience a real Commando, with grunt, handling and a beautiful sound.
The rebuild included Boyer electronic ignition, full engine rebuild (crankshaft bearings/shells, big/small end bearings, conrods, rebore, pistons/rings, valve seats, valves/springs, clutch etc etc). The isolastics were all replaced, and the tank and panels were resprayed in its original glorious red.
Tyres are as new.
Chrome is in very good condition, as expected for a California bike.
This bike would make a very valuable addition to a collection of classic motorcycles, but is ready to ride as well.
OK, now for the small-print!  No timewasters/tyrekickers; genuine buyers only are welcome to come and view. If you win the auction, I require an immediate £500 deposit and the balance by bank transfer. I will not be answering any messages asking what the reserve is; bidders need to be sure that they genuinely want the bike and have the funds available.
I am happy to hold onto the bike until the V5 arrives if required (I have sent off all the paperwork), but would need FULL payment within two days of the auction finishing. PLEASE DON'T BID IF THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO YOU.
Good luck; you are bidding on a very rare piece of motorcycling history!
