Welcome to my add for my vmax 1988 USA import full power vmax Over the winter the bike has had full frame up rebuild, every single part of the bike has been painted, frame, engine, swing arm, tank, you name it, its been painted !! I have spent approx 200 hours rebuilding this bike. The spec is as follows:
Front end: later 43mm forks & yokes fitted, the forks have had YSS fork valves (basic cartridge fork emulators) and Hagon heavy duty springs fitted. XJ 600 17" front wheel, new tyre. Custom fork brace so mudguard sits lower with the smaller wheel. R1 blue spot calipers. New black braded lines for calipers, also got clutch line as well so they match. XJR1300 front master cylinder. Clutch master and slave cylinders refurbed with new seals etc mini indicators. superbike bars, new grips, bar ends and mirrors. New head bearings.
rear end: XJ900 17" rear wheel held in with custom axle spacer, new tyre. Koni adjustable rear shocks. Cats eye rear light and mini indicators. new rear diff oil. New swing arm bearings.
Engine: Full service including valve check. Kawasaki oval ring fitted into sump pick up (common for standard yamaha ring to "pop" out leaving top end starved of oil. Exactrep alloy solid engine mounts so engine is now stressed member of the frame, helping handling. Engine painted in gloss engine enamel. Cards stripped, cleaned and balanced. GSXR stick coils fitted (COPS) big upgrade over standard coils that crack and fail with heat. MOSFET reg/rec fitted. Engine bars. Standard exhaust but with centre plate drilled out so it sounds bit louder but not silly, all exhaust gaskets replaced with new.
Body: Painted in Audi carbon grey. Also have fly screen and rear rack that could be fitted.
I have all the standard parts removed, old 40mm fork, wheels, bars, mirrors, indicators etc if you ever wanted to refit them, but god knows why you would !!
My idea was to keep it looking like classic vmax but with slightly modern twist regarding handling, braking etc.
So why am selling, well bought it with the idea that my Mrs could come on the back, (she has back problems so modern bikes are too high for her), anyway she tried it and its still too high so the idea of potting out for evening summer run just isnt gonna happen :(
I cant really justify having the vmax sat there for odd run on my own.
I'll put 12 months MOT on the bike before sell it.
I'm looking for something more suitable for distance runs, like an Adventure bike, KTM 990, Guzzi stelvio, GS etc etc not really sport bikes, something with higher bars but try me...
A dont want to swop for shares in an africian gold mine, cash your million pound checks or talk to Nigarian prince so dont bother
