1948 Indian Chief, engine and frame are non matching. Both are early 1948. Transmission rebuilt this season to include new transmission main bearings, drive sprocket bushing replaced and honed to main shaft, new clutch basket bushing installed and honed to main shaft, countershaft end play reset and new clutch plates installed. Original generator rebuilt this season by Indian Frank including the voltage regulator. Oil pump has been rebuilt this season with new scavenge gears, lower body cover faced and installed with the correct amount of gear clearance. The plunger on the feed pump is standard O.D. and within bore tolerance and does not wet sump. New wiring harness this season, speedometer rebuilt over the winter by John Bordas. Both rear shocks have been rebuilt with new upper springs, new upper and lower bushings honed to size and new grease fittings installed. Wheel bearings have been checked for fit and re packed at the beginning of the season. New front tire. Correct M344 carb rebuilt at beginning of season to include venturi fitment. Both gas valves have been serviced with EZ Turn lubricant. Rear tailight works as does the headlight, except for the high beam. Original horn works. This motorcycle is ridden apx 50 miles a week in season and is very reliable. Please look closely to the hardware/clips and details to this motorcycle. Its dirty and the paint is awful...in fact the tanks were painted with a brush. Its just as I got it and has stayed that way and looks great. I do have a video of a cold start available upon request. I have other parts to this Indian that will be made available to the new owner at an additional cost. The 1948 NH license plate is NOT included in the sale. I have a clear NH title in my name. Please look carefully and ask questions before bidding. Full payment is due within 3 days. The motorcycle will be advertised locally for sale and right is reserved to end this auction early.
